Bicycle polo - futsal on bicycles! It is a very popular sport in neighbouring states. Thanks to the brothers Pospíšil, bicycle polo used to be well-known in the Czech Republic, too. And what is the situation now? Who of you has heard about this sport recently?
Numbers of medals from World Championship by states: 1st place Germany (32 golden medals), 2nd place Czech Republic (25 golden medals), 3rd place Swiss (17 golden medals).
Unbelievable, isn't it? We have claimed 2nd place by the number of won World Championships. This sport is "almost" unknown even for the people who know a lot about cycling, so you can imagine how complicated it is to be informed about races or to see an effort to promote this sport. What a pity!
And bicycle polo is the same spectacle as hockey, tennis, football… theatre or cinema. But if you really want to see it, all you need to do is cross the borders of the Czech Republic!
