Duratec took this year’s Král Šumavy (26.5.2012) as a great opportunity to introduce and properly test a new bike dimension of 27.5 inches which has recently been launched.
A new DURATEC team was created on this occasion and two experienced racers Vašek Aška and Pavel Gonda will present these bikes in Czech peloton. First acid test of the new bike was successful as Pavel Gonda took 2nd place in 70 km race (Král Šumavy)
Duratec bike of these specific dimensions was first introduced to the Czech market at the beginning of April. The availability of spare parts is improving every month and the bike will become a new part of our standard range of products in July. You can find the bike on the websites of the producer and book its production now.
Frame geometry of 27,5 inches bikes differs from the conventional 26 inches ones. The core philosophy of the company and the production itself enable the maintenance of frame geometry according to client’s requirements and to manufacture custom-made frames. Therefore, it wasn’t difficult to design and manufacture a frame reflecting the 27.5’’ wheels specifications. The geometry of C1 Torain frame was modified for the new wheel dimensions. However, there are other new model’s attractive particularities. The basic material is aluminium alloy 7020T6. Head tube is suitable for tapered steer tube forks, the diameter of the lower bearing is 1,5 inches and it promises weight reduction of approximately 60 grams. Rear forks have been newly developed – their shape has been designed considering the maximum rigidity near the centre. The system of rear through-axle dropouts Syntace X-12 is a brand new solution. The patented system X-12 can be characterised as STIFF-LIGHT-QUICK. Therefore it enables a brilliant fitting and removal of rear wheel, but first of all it increases the stiffness and firmness of rear wheel fitting. It closes the rear triangle firmly and helps the racer react quickly in terrain.
