MTB MICHELIN TEAM originated at the beginning of 2005 under the leadership of Jaroslav Žitný and Ivan Sova. The World Champion Jaroslav Kulhavý was the leader of the team. At that time, the cooperation with the DURATEC Company started.
A few words of Ivan Sova, the manager of the team (in 2005):
When we asked the Duratec Company for cooperation at the end of 2004 we knew that we wanted good-quality frames that would help us keep up with the top. The best products of the company include Sonix CX2 frames for MTB that are seated by our racers. Jaroslav Kulhavý, JuniorEuropeand World Champion from 2003 is at the head of the team
The frames are characterised by a good quality of manufacturing and attractive design. On 15 April 2005 Jaroslav Kulhavý received a new special bike which was made according to his wishes and comments. The geometry is optimized which results in good handling in uphill and downhill riding.
The present models Sonix CX2 that are ridden by Václav Hlaváč and Marek Nebesář completely fulfil these characteristics. They are very strong; they greatly keep and lead the track. The riders have no longer problems to sit up on the bike and improve their seating.
“I am totally satisfied, “said Václav Hlaváč immediately after the first training. As a proof of his words he, as the first Czech biker, won the E1 race inMaribor,Slovenia. Jarda Kulhavý followed him on the winners’ podium. “I have to point out that our riders of U-23 category beat the Elite racer in this race.” Says the team manager Ivan Sova
Two bikes separated Jarda Kulhavý from the first victory in Italian Liquigas Cup where he was hit by a careless spectator. Until then, he would finish on the fifth place and plainly on the first one in the U-23 category.
“After the problems with seating and frame last year I am still seeking, but Duratec met me halfway and the frame I am now riding on suits me” says Jarda Kulhavý.
