Tandem, or a bike which two cyclists ride and pedal together. There are more or less two kinds of people who ride tandems: those who have completely fallen under the spell of tandem pedalling and have become aficionados and fans, and those for who it is the only means of movement and active sport as a result of their disability. In the second case a blind or otherwise disabled rider sits behind the front rider.
The MTB tandem Big Bang C9 is newly offered in a version for 24” wheels. The diversity of own production and highly individual approach in designing tandems offers customers unusual technical possibilities, not only in the choice of color design or components. We can also build the cabling of the Shimano XT,Di2 electronic gear shifter into the frame, and the battery is located in the seatpost of the rear rider.
One new feature for 2020 is the possibility of configuring the MTB tandem for the SRAM or Shimano 1x10sp. groupsets. The cranksets have a special DURATEC chainring and connecting chain on the right side of the frame. You can find all the available versions below in the details or on the Configurator page.

Very frequently discussed topic in the tandem cycling is a stiffness and resistance to torsion. Frame Big Bang C9 achieves high torsional rigidity mainly due to the tubes used for its construction. It is a material 7020T6 and oversize tube diameters. The lower and central tube having a diameter of 52 mm. At the middle of the frame tubes are specially shaped to resist high loads.
▲ Detail of special 36T chainring manufactured by CNC milling directly in Duratec. In the picture the chainring is fitted on SRAM NX Eagle cranksets.
▲ A detailed view of the eccentric bottom bracket used for tensioning chain between bottom brackets. More information here.
▲ A specially designed double chainring for connecting the bottom brackets of both riders. It is manufactured by CNC milling and is suitable for all SRAM cranksets which have a Direct Mount for the chainring. We offer a basic size of 36-36 teeth, and a 32, 34 or 36-tooth chainring can be fitted at the rear. Thanks to the double chainring we can link the bottom brackets of both riders by the chain on the right side. So it is not necessary to have a linking chain on the left and the gearing on the right. The system is very popular, and it lets a rider use cranksets of the standard SRAM offer.
▲ Currently a fixing for a rigid axle is the trend for the front and rear fork. As a result we recommend that you order a frame with dropouts for Syntace X12 rear axle, which closes the rear triangle of the frame. This will significantly increase its torsional rigidity. So use a timeless solution and choose a technically advanced rigid rear axle.
▲ We manufacture tandem frames for wheels with diameter 24, 26, 27.5 or 29 inches. Depending on the required tyre width we are capable of adapting the rear construction for a boost system where the size of the rear hub is 148 mm in the version Syntace X12. Then the frame is suitable for a tyre width of up to 2.6” (for 29" wheels).
