Apart from professional cycling Jirka engages in voluntary, charity and community service. He helped to found the AMSA Czech HendiGolf project which opens the way to golf courses for the disabled people. In the past he helped to found the Czech hockey team of the disabled a he actively took part in matches during the first year. In 2008 he wrote and published his autobiography entitled “Frajer” (“Ace”). The aim of this book was to give hope not only to the similarly disabled people on the grounds of his life story.

Jiri Jezek won the gold medal in the time trial race at the Summer Paralympic Games in London 2012. Three days before he managed to get the silver medal on the track in the 4km pursuit. Thanks to his victory Jiri became the most succesfull paralympic cyclist throughout paralympic history.

Jiří Ježek started at a Tour de France 2013 in time trial as a forerider to promote Paralympic sport at the top level. His role was to set the base time for the 11th stage of the 100th Tour de France, a 33km time trial between Avranches and Mont-Sant-Michel on July 10. "I want to show everyone that handicapped people can live an active life and manage tasks they didn't even dream of accomplishing when the accident or disease struck," Jezek said.
