Our gravel bike Rebel is based on cyclocross frame made of 7020T6 aluminium alloy. This model is modified for single cranksets. It differs in particular by virtue of the fact that the rear derailleur cable and brake Bowden cable housing are routed inside the frame. A frame of very rigid design with specially shaped rear construction that absorbs the bumps of the terrain excellently. Light weight tubing of large diameter are used for the construction of the front triangle. Thanks to its concept, the frame displays great torsional rigidity, which significantly influences the transmission of the rider's force applied to the pedal during acceleration. During manufacture each semi-finished item is carefully prepared on CNC machines, and after welding the welds are hand ground. After the frame has been repainted, the welds are solid and optically of highly compact. The variability of production makes it possible to modify the Rebel S8 model, both in terms of frame geometry and in technical details and requirements. Thanks to the highly individual approach to the change of geometry and the boom in junior cycling, we can prepare this frame even for young riders from sizes as small as 44 cm. The cable casing for the rear derailleur and rear brake are inside the top tube of the frame, which allows the competitor a great grip on the bike when running.
Looking at the construction of the frame top tube and the frame headtube, you can't help but notice the precision hand finishing of the weld. After the completion of a weld, it is ground by hand, which eliminates the weld's surface tension and gives a highly finished appearance. A conventional bead weld typical for robotic welding is not used in the case of Duratec frames - the tubes are welded together by high-quality penetration welding, which gives a very elegant joint of great strength.
The selection of a single crankset is a very pure solution in connection with the frame. No further stops for the front derailleur are necessary. It is impossible in difficult situations during a race, when derailing to a higher or lower chainring results in a chain drop. With their incredible range of 1x11sp., they cover virtually the same range as the former classic with double crankset if the right cassette is chosen.
SRAM Force CX1 cranks with 38 tooth crankset are shown. The range has now been expanded to include the sets SRAM Apex, Force and Rival. The cranksets are manufactured in a range of 38-54 with two-tooth increments. Shimano has not reacted to the 1x11sp. sets for cyclocross, and so the offer currently is only SRAM. You can find out more on the Configuration page.
Cassettes are available in the range 11-25, 11-26, most often 11-28 and 11-32 teeth are used. Cassettes with an incredible range of 10-42 teeth are a new item.
Both the cable for the rear derailleur and the hydraulic hose for the rear brake are located inside the frame top tube. Both cables emerge from the top tube and run externally along the rear stays to the area of the rear dropouts.
