Single speed city bike. This is the ONE&ONLY model with exclusive paiting Pain&Gain! A bike intended for fast city travel, to work and back. Simple, practical and not burdened with a great number of gears. These bikes originated in the USA, where couriers needed to go faster on straight boulevards, didn't want to wait in city traffic jams, and needed to weave in and out between cars and pedestrians with ease and to bump up curbs. So they removed all the superfluous components from conventional road bikes and arrived at a simple single-speed version of the conventional bike.
The frame of the One&Only is made of light double butted 7020T6 aluminium alloy tubes. The basis for its design is the track model Magnetic T9 with altered geometry. Like in points racing, large diameter tubes are used, which are a typical trait of the DURATEC brand and which ensure great torsional rigidity, thanks to which there is optimal transfer of force applied on the pedal into acceleration. During production we use a CNC machine to prepare the semi-finished product for production. After welding, the frames are ground by hand and after painting the welds can hardly be seen at all. The result is a visually highly compact appearance.
The belt transmission is intended for the more demanding user. It offers many advantages, for example it is a far lighter solution compared to a chain, and it runs far more quietly under load. You don't have to lubricate it or spend a long time cleaning it, and it wears out more slowly. But on the other hand it is more expensive. There are also increased demands on the frame, which must have a removable right rear stay in order for the belt to be fitted. It is tensioned by shifting the rear wheel in the frame dropouts.
The front belt pulley is manufactured in a range of 44, 50 and 55 teeth, and the rear belt pulley in a 22 tooth version with freewheel.
